Nurse Hannah shares her journey moving Down Under after relocating from Wales, where she has combined her role as a theatre nurse to travel while working!
I started working as a theatre nurse here in May 2024, and I love it!
Moving to Australia had been a dream of mine for over a decade, and now that I’m finally here, I couldn’t be happier. My accommodation is fantastic, and I live with two wonderful housemates, making it easy to connect with others in the same situation. I’m even planning to rent a car on weekends to explore the surrounding areas.
Working in Western Australia and Central Sydney
Currently, I’m a bit of a nomad working contracts in Western Australia and Central Sydney. Geraldton has a great community of nurses, and there's so much to explore! Outside of work, I’m all about sightseeing, hiking, and beach visits.
Travelling and working – the best of both worlds
When I arrived, I spent two weeks traveling: I flew into Sydney, headed up to Kempsey on the north coast, and then down the south coast of NSW. My caseworker, Aoife, has been an amazing support, helping to make my transition smoother. I loved working at St. Vincent’s and St. Luke’s in Sydney, and I'm looking forward to my upcoming contract in Broome in December.

Freedom, support and opportunity as an Alliance Nurse
