You’re arty, love coffee and thrive when you have lots of weekend plans! Melbourne’s title as the cultural capital of Australia makes you excited and you can’t wait to explore the alley ways, shopping centres, galleries and music scene as well as check out the world class sporting events. You’ll be planning a trip along the Great Ocean Road or a quick flight to see the sights of Tasmania before you know it.

Ah Melbourne! This city offers up so many things to do – there is always a festival (the Melbourne International Comedy Festival being one of the best known), live music, new bar or exhibition to check out. If sport is your thing – there is AFL (Australian football – it’s kind of like rugby, but more complicated), tennis, motor racing, soccer and cricket, just to name a few. If weekend travel is your thing, you’ll be spoiled for choice – Geelong, the Bellarine Peninsula, the Yarra Valley, the Great Ocean Road and the Dandenong Ranges are all just a road trip away.

The downside, it’s more expensive than most other cities, although Sydney still takes the crown when it comes to the cost of living. And it’s cold in winter compared to the northern cities.

As Australia’s second largest city, the opportunities are vast. If you’re looking to specialise or just want to try a few different hospitals, Melbourne is the place to do it. Our team are ready and waiting to let you know how you can get started. Our nurses tell us that it’s more relaxing working in Australia. The hours are kinder with 8 hour shifts being the norm, lower staff to patient ratios (1:4-6) and better pay.

If you choose Melbourne as your starting point in Australia, you’ll be able to post some of these gems to your Instagram and make your friends and family back home jealous (who knows, this might get them planning a holiday to come and visit you sooner than you think).
